June is the month that welcomes the summer, the heat and the beaches, but also June is known as the LGTBI+ pride month. June 28th is the international LGBT Pride Day or better known as Gay Pride Day. This year it will be celebrated differently, but that is no reason to stop celebrating it and claiming, giving voice and visibility to LGTBI+.
There will not be massive concentrations of people, either in demonstrations or in concerts, much less the parade. But, it does not mean that there will not be different options to celebrate and fill the month with June Pride.
1. Virtual Pride
The Pride parade should have been on the 25th, 26th and 27th of June. But, due to the corona emergency, the event will be online. The Pride can be enjoyed online or on television on Betevé channel. Among 32 social entities, the ‘Virtual Pride’ will be filled with debates, interviews, concerts and colloquiums, all presented by Jordi Chicletol and Sharonne.
2. Nits del Fòrum
The festival Primavera Sound has been replaced by the ‘Nits del Fórum‘, this year. The event is a cycle of 70 concerts in the Parque del Fórum. During the Pride week, it will host shows of Monterrosa and La Prohibida, on the 27th and Soraya + Sharonne on the 28th.
3. Antinous Book store
The Antinous book store is a reference in the LGTBI+ book stores of Barcelona and the country, which reopened last May 25th. After the long wait during the confinement, they have opened with the individual security and capacity measures. But with more energy than ever, it is undoubtedly a place to visit during these days.
4. Cinema with Pride Barcelona
The Pride Barcelona organizes and releases several films so that viewers can release emotions by watching them. Organized by Cine con Orgullo and cinefórum with Culturia, it offers a selection of LGTBI+ themed films, all with the collaboration of Filmin.
5. Pride Collective Mural
On June 28th in Plaza Universidad a collective mural will be organized and filled with photos of the people who come. The idea is to fill the wall with pictures of LGTBI+ families and to fill the flag with photos of users. Also, from Pride Barcelona, ‘Rainbow’ masks will be distributed to the attendees, in a limited edition format.
These have been our five proposals to celebrate Pride month by claiming and providing LGBTI+ visibility. You can find more plans on Sharify App.
