The best beaches in Barcelona and surroundings

Hi Sharies! Finally, the confinement of the district is over, and we can go back to the beaches! But which beaches can we go to? Here we leave you the list of the best beaches in Barcelona and its surroundings, where to go this summer.

1. Castelldefels

Castelldefels has 5 km of beaches and fine sand. For this reason, it’s considered one of the best beaches in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.

You can get there with the Rodalies R2 Sud, stop “Castelldefels Platja”, in only 35 minutes from Passeig de Gracia!

2. Sitges

Sitges is a city on the Garraf coast, and it’s at only 35 minutes by train from Barcelona. The city is well known for its carnival and its international movies festival, but it’s also famous for its beaches.
Sitges has 17 beaches, from fullest in the city to the hidden ones. Choose your favourite!

4. Montgat

At 30 minutes from Barcelona, we can find Montgat. Its beach is one of the Barceloneses’ favourite, thanks to its familiar atmosphere. Besides, ts climatic conditions attract several surfers all over the year.

3. Badalona

A few trains stop from Barcelona we find Badalona and its beaches. It’s the best solution if you don’t want to go too far from the city to enjoy a day at the beach. Badalona has 3 big beaches: el Gorg, El Manresà y la Platja del Centre. You need to choose your favourite one and go to the train station!

5. Platja del Prat

Prat offers 3.4 kilometers of coast, along with dunes, pine forest and lagoons. Also, you can find chiringuitos to enjoy even more your day. Prat id the perfect place for a day out of the urban agglomeration.

6. Arenys del Mar

Arenys del Mar is in the province of Barcelona, and it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The first one is El Cavaió, with its golden sand and clear water. After it, there is La Musclera, where you can admire the autochthonous vegetation, thanks to a protected area. In the end, we find La Picordia, a semi-urban beach made by rocks and sand.

7. El Masnou and Ocata

Masnou and Ocata beaches are within the favourite of Barceloneses. Besides, they are considered the cleanest ones. Thanks to the Rodalies from Clot or Catalunya square you can get to paradise in a blink of an eye.

8. Garraf

If what you are looking for is a quiet place, not far from the city, Garraf beach is your choice. This small cove is famous for the fishermen’s houses made of wood, which are located in it. You can get there in 40 minutes by train from the centre of Barcelona.

9. Calella de Palafrugell

Calella de Palafrugell is surely one of the most beautiful towns in the area. Its white houses, the blue sea and the sun, make it a perfect area to enjoy a summer weekend. Here you will find many divine beaches such as: El Golfet, Port Bó, Port de Malaspina and many more.

10. Cala Estreta

To get to Cala Estreta you have to walk through the Ronda path that connects the Es Castell beach with Calella de Palafrugell. But don’t worry, in the end the view of this beautiful cove will be the reward for your effort.

11. Tossa de Mar

Immersed in a rich vegetation, Tossa de Mar offers us many paradisical beaches. From Cala Pola, which takes the name of the Camping right next to it, to the quiet Cala Futadera.

Tossa de Mar also offers longer beaches, such as Platja Gran, the largest in the area and, surely… the most photographed one!

12. Cove of Illa Roja (Begur)

Thanks to its charm and its coves, Begur has positioned itself among the most famous destinations on the Costa Brava.
One of the most beautiful coves is, without a doubt, the renowned Cala de la Illa Roja. The reason that has made this cove become one of the most beautiful coves in Spain, in addition to its surroundings, it’s a rocky islet that turns red every sunrise and sunset. A show you don’t want to miss!

13. Aiguablava (Begur)

Located in Begur, the Aiguablava cove is known for the quality of its water. The water in this cove is crystal clear, thus giving the cove the name Aiguablava. The cove is surrounded by cliffs, pine trees and vegetation. Although it is a relatively small cove, it does not reach 100 meters, it is one of the most beautiful coves on the Costa Brava.

14. Sa Tuna (Begur)

15. Castell Beach (Palamós)

16. Aigua Xelida (Tamariu)

17. Torn Beach (Hospitalet del Infant)

18. Cala Jovera (Tamarit)

This beach of fine golden sand preserves all kinds of vegetation around it, which makes it a perfect beach to enjoy the landscape in all directions. Access to the beach is by foot, but it is worth it to enjoy its warm and calm waters.

19. Beach of Morer

The Morer beach is under the national road, when leaving Sant Pol. Its transparent water and the pine trees give us an idea of ​​what awaits us if we continue travelling along the Costa Brava.
