What to do this Sant Joan 2020 in Barcelona?

This year,  San Juan celebration will be different from the San Juan festivals, we have known so far. But, it does not mean we cannot celebrate one of the most beloved parties.

In the celebration of this year, meetings and gatherings of many people will not be allowed. Despite being one of the most massive festivals, San Juan will have to be held responsibly and respecting safety and hygiene measures. Barcelona’s beaches will be closed from 8:00 p.m. on June 23 to 10 a.m. on June 24.

Where and how to celebrate San Juan?

The Received Flame of Canigó

Only the best-known group in the city will be able to participate in this old tradition of San Juan, this year. As every year, the Cobla Sant Jordi – Ciutat de Barcelona, ​​the Àliga and the Gegants de la Ciutat will participate. Tele-Verbena Folk at C.A.T.

It will be possible to follow the verbena broadcast from 10 pm. on June 23 by the YouTube channels of Popular Culture of Barcelona (https://www.youtube.com/user/culturapopularbcn) and Tradicionàrius. In which you can enjoy music from different folk groups.


Photography contest on Instagram

The Sarria Children’s Devils and their neighbourhood association have organized a photography contest, through balconies and Instagram. The idea is to decorate the balconies with San Juan motifs and upload the photo to Instagram with the hashtag #RevetllaFase3.


DJ session at Casal de Can Travi

The DJ session at the Casal de Can Travi is organized by Cultura Confitada de Horta – Guinardó. From his YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGQL6pneWbmx2V35DdFvzZA) you will be able to enjoy the music of Karmela’s DJ, two youngs from the Carmel neighborhood, who have been organizing the Karmela Fest, for the past 3 years of the neighborhood local parties.


Cycle of ‘Foc i Tradicions’

The Municipal Center of Popular Culture of Sant Andreu have prepared the campaign named “the cycle of Fire and traditions” (or ‘Foc i Tradicions’). The initiative is made of 4 video capsules, where different people talked about the fire festival and its evolution.
